Baikal Calling is an exchange program for volunteers from Russia, Germany, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova. The program starts on August 6 with an introduction seminar in Irkutsk and ends on August 20 in Ulan-Ude, Buryatia. The participants will learn regional and international approaches on sustainable development and prevention of wild fire, work up to 7 hours a day building hiking trails and exchange their experiences at the final event in an buddist center in Buryatia. After the Baikal track, up to 5 participants, representatives of volunteer initiatives can take part in the World Volunteer Conference in Augsburg, Bavaria in October 2018.

Who can participate?
The program is open for up to citizens or residents of Russia, Germany, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova from 18 to 40 years old. Applicants have to know English at level B1. Knowledge of Russian is advantageous, but not mandatory. Applicants should already have experience in the field of social and/or political engagement.

How much does participation cost?
The participation in the program is free of charge. Our organization will cover accomodation and food during our whole stay from 6 till 20 of August in Irkutsk, at workcamps, final event and transfer costs from Irkutsk to Buryatia . We will also cover from 50% to 75 % of flights expances to Irkutsk and back.
'Baikal Calling. International Volunteer Exchange' is a new project launched by a Berlin based NGO Dekabristen e.V. supported by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
